Supporting Student Achievement
MSAP 3-DAY TRAINING - Masonic Student Assistance Program (MSAP) is an intensive three-day workshop for educators to learn how to identify, intervene with, and create appropriate referrals for students who may be at risk for substance abuse, depression, suicide, or violence. This workshop trains a Core Team of 6-8 educators from a school in how to intervene early and effectively with students who display patterns of behaviors that threaten their academic success at school. MSAP involves practice sessions designed to simulate real events along with presentations on such subjects as chemical dependency, depression and suicide, conflict, anger, violence and bullying, communication skills and intervention, family dynamics, enabling, life skills development, treatment and aftercare, and group process. Participants leave the training with a specific plan for behavioral intervention and a plan for implementing MSAP in their schools. The team collaboration is what leads to a solution, giving troubled students a greater chance of staying in school and becoming productive members of society.
