You may retake competencies after school as long as you make a weekly effort to pass the competency. You can pass these competencies and I will assist you. Your competency sheet must be kept in your journal and record passing grade as they occur. Your sheet must match the master sheet kept by your teacher.

Classwork/ Homework- All assigned work , written and oral , competencies, essays, tests, notes, etc. vary in points and are possible for each activity. You will be informed of the points possible. Active participation and listening during class time result in varied bonus points depending upon the the activity.

Journal- a 3 ring binder is required to keep all work (competencies are kept in your folder in the classroom). This journal will contain all assigned essays and work, including reflections and homework. The journal will be graded both semesters for 10% of your grade depending upon the completeness of its contents, and a table of contents for required sections. Competency sheets must be kept in the front of the journal.

PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT

Student involvement is a critical factor to increase the students interest and success rate, for both independent study and cooperative group learning. Tasks need to be structured and include basic knowledge to prepare for measurements like basic competencies, which are now required by the state and necessary for scholastic achievement and competitive test scores. I incorporate behaviour, discipline, and respect into the learning process in order to develop responsibility, accountability, and self-esteem for each student. My goal is to create learning habits to empower students to develop their potential and grow as they become ethical and productive members of society.
