About Mr. Manansala:

Christian Manansala, the newest addition to the Foreign Languages Department, was hired for the position of Filipino teacher last August 2003. He was offered the position to teach the Filipino language and culture, but he has since exceeded that obligation and has helped Filipino-American students understand their inner qualities as well.

Manansala desires to share the beauty of his culture with American born Filipino. He believes that by teaching Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines, he strengthens the cultural thread that keep Filipinos all over the world in touch with their own roots. By teaching Filipino-Americans their native tongue and roots, he helps them reclaim their Filipino heritage.

This is Christian Manansala's first year of teaching Filipino here at JBHS; already he enjoys and appreciates the uniqueness of the different ethnicities that constitutes Jesse Bethel High School. He believes that every race, whether African-American, Mexican-American, Caucasian, or Filipino- American, has their own distinct culture. As a language teacher, he is able to see that through his students, and believes that each day is a stimulating and refreshing experience, in terms of discussing issues that reflect on the various language and cultural standards of his curriculum.
