As webmaster for JBHS since our first year (1998), I invite you to tour our school's website. It represents a vision of what a school website might be. If it falls short of that vision, it is understandable as the website is a voluntary project with no funding. Still, we hope you will come away from the experience feeling that it's worth returning to again and again, e.g. worthy of making one of your browser's "favorites" or "bookmarks"!

Please let me know if you have any difficulties viewing this web page or any others at the Jesse Bethel web site. You can reach me through the following email address web master@jessebethel.net.

There are many great categorized links available through a visit to our web site's IMC, as well as at the Counselors' Department for post-high school planning. Please visit those areas.

The following are some useful links for web surfers:

  • Favorite Search Resources: Beacoup Links & DMOZ Open Project Directory
  • Interested in Power Point as an art medium? Check out the inventory of Power Points available for download from the Nebo School District (Utah)
  • Software Download Resource: TuCows
  • Don't forget to check out the JBHS "Freebies & Downloads" section.
  • Sick of Pop Ups, Pop Unders, endless online promotion, stealth cookies AND crashing hard drives from the assault on your browsing? Here are two useful ways to avoid those annoying things. Use "MYWAY.com" instead of Yahoo, Hotmail, etc., for free webmail and a personal page. Also, StopZilla is a great tool for intercepting popups and cookies before they can invade your system. There's a free 2-wk try out. After my browser was "hijacked" and after trying a couple of free popup blocker programs, I found this one the most effective & worth the $19.95 a year cost.
  • AutumnStar.com is my own domain, a kind of working studio for the art of web design. It also offers some very useful links, such as the Autumn Star's Bookmarks and Solano Links for Solano County residents

Meet the Teacher! - Greetings! "Mrs. Malchiodi Albedi" is a mouthful to say, so most students just call me "Mrs. Malchiodi" or simply "Mrs. M". But if you want to give it a try, say " m-al-key-oh-dee al-beh-dee". In Latin, mal=bad AND chiodi=nails And, yes, I do have bad nails! Was that more information than you thought you'd want to know? That's one tell-tale sign of a "born teacher".

Most of my childhood was spent in Fairfield, though my earliest memories are of Germany. I've been a teacher since 1977 when the U.S. Peace Corp trained me to teach EFL/ESP. I've been a full-time teacher with the V.C.U.S.D. since 1993. In addition to teaching, I've enjoyed work as a Real Estate agent, educational contract co-ordinator for the U.S. military and especially work as a salesgirl in Paris' Galarie Lafayette on Blvd. Hausmannn, near the Opera House. Sometimes, it just isn't about the money! - the teacher's a motto.

An extended single-life, with much world travel and opportunity for scholarly pursuits, was enjoyed before meeting my husband, Alfredo. He holds his university degree in art & art/architectural history from Rome's Fine Art Academy. He has created many unique posters and certificates of achievement for the school and created the graphic identity & initial 39 different banners for our school website. Our small family includes our dog and cat, Scooby and Mimi.

This web site is for students and parents to use as an informational resource. You can learn about my classes by clicking here and here! There is also a ".doc" letter to parents that may be downloaded to read on your home computer. The beautiful keyboarding certificate is available for view at this site, too.

Acceptable use policies are commonplace with school districts around the country. You can learn more about them at Cyberbee. It is very important for students and parents to understand the V.C.U.S.D.'s Internet and Computer Use Policy; it is fully implimented. Computers are wonderfully fun learning tools.

It is a legal requirement that all students taking using school computers need to submit and have on file with us the school district's Consent & Waiver form. This form must be read and signed by both student and parents. A power point presentation on the basic points of policy for classroom use of computers is available for view online. To view this power point online, you will need Internet Explore v.5 or better and may need to download the free plug-in from Microsoft if you do not have Power Point or Office 2003 or better.

The "Consent & Waiver" form has a quiz on the backside for students to take after reading & signing the form; it's called the "Internet Surfing License Quiz". 80% or better is a passing grade. Wonder if you're ready for that license? Test yourself with this online quiz. It is very similar to the one on the backside of "Consent & Waiver Form". You will need to have Internet Explorer version 6 or better as your web browser for the online quiz to work.

My daily classroom activities support our school's committment to high literacy standards and reading skills improvement among our students. Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) is an essential tool for the achievement of those goals. In addition to the school-wide goal of increased student literacy, there are unique requirements for each course of study.
