Microsoft's EBook Reader is a great way to read royalty FREE, copyright FREE books which can be downloaded from various internet sites. The EBook Reader is also free for download. What's great about the EBook Reader is that you can make notes in the margins, draw in the margins of pages, highlight sections of the text, and click on a word you don't know to get the definition. If you have trouble reading, no problem; hook up your speakers or headphones to your computer and let your computer read the book to you while you are following the text with your eyes! The Microsoft EBook Reader 2.0 is said to require Windows '98, ME or 2000 to work. But we have found that it works just fine on our Win '95 systems. After you download the EBook Reader (you will need Internet Explorer version 5.0 or better to do so), you can visit the following web sites to get EBook Reader formatted books (fiction or non-fiction) to download into the "My Library" or "My EBooks" folder that is created in your "My Documents" folder/directory when you install the EBook Reader. If you are a student or reader of Spanish, French or German, you can consider downloading those versions of the EBook Reader and visit look for Electionic Libraries that have foreign language books or search at foreign internet sites for their own electronic libraries. We don't know if the foreign language versions of the MS EBook Reader will actually play or read aloud in a foreign language unless you have the foreign language version of the Windows operating system installed. We know of people opening and reading Italian books in the EBook Reader. Those books are being downloaded in text format from Italian sites and converted into MS Reader format by the free conversion plug-in that works with Office 2000. You can even create and publish your own manuscripts with the conversion plugin!
