Star Testing

Each year, the State of California mandates that all public school children take the STAR (SAT 9) test. The scores fron these tests are used to determine and API score (1-10) for each school. The score is used by the State of California to measure the performance of individual schools and to make comparisons among schools.

Bethel has been working hard to improve our SAT 9 test scores. We have made yearly improvement. Improvement is attributed to parent cooperation and improved teaching strategies. We showed substantial improvement in Math and History.

The University of California is sponsoring a web site offering FREE online test preparation for tests like the SAT and ACT. The site is offered through the California Virtual High School (http://www.cavhs.org) web page.

If that link doesn't work, try University of California College Prep [http://www.uccp.org]

"The interactive online tesp prep courses feature easy-to-use tutorials, practice sessions that dynamically adapt to each student's ability and a vocabulary builder with more than 2,000 words. Students may also select a parent or teacher as a "coach" to mentor them during the test prep process."

Seniors! Please be sure to take the ACT and/or SAT tests before December to meet college application deadlines. Deadlines may not be the same for all colleges. A letter will be mailed home updating each senior student's status. The letter will give the student's current credit and class status.
