A.S.H.A.E CLUB Clubs

What is A.S.H.A.E Club?

The A.S.H.A.E (African-American Students of Honor and Excellence) Club, formerly the Black Students Union(B.S.U.) is an extracurricular club for all JBHS students. The primary focus is to promote academic axcellence for its members and encourage cultural awareness for students of African-American descent.

The acronym A.S.H.A.E. and its pronounciation (ASHAY) represents a Yoruban expression of inner peace and confidence. It is used in ceremonial revenge to ancestral accoplishments and historical feats in many African nations.

Accomplishments

In the past, the group has sponsored several culturally significant events/activities. Every year, we celebrate Kwanzaa. Kwanzaa is a cultural event that began in the 60's. Everyone is invited to attend our annual Kwanzaa Celebration in December.

ASHAE has also facilitated the schoolwide recognition and commemoration of Black History Month, held traditionally during the month of February.
